Project 365 - Week 4

I was so tired last weekend (Wed through Fri) that I just couldn't get this post done. Work was really sucking out all of my energy. Let alone all the difficult people that had to be dealt with. Urgh! Okay..let's leave it at that.

But the good thing was, we had a long weekend. Yeay! Monday was a Public Holiday here in lieu for the Prophet Mohammad's Birthday which happened last Sunday. Meaning I got to craft more. Oo yes I did! I made 2 scrapbooks (which I will post soon), started on my Countdown to V-Day project (*wink*), and my 12 Month About-Me scrapbook (also will be posted soon). (*happy dance*)

Anyways, here's my P 365 - Week 4.

We only went to one house this year for CNY visiting - Elsa & Moi's house. Didn't intend to really go for visiting this year but going to Elsa & Moi's wasn't a bad idea either.

Xavier got to play at the McD's playground at Permy Jaya again when we went there on Jan 24th night. This is his 2nd time and he loves it. We were glad there were not many kids around...he only got to share it with a couple of kids. They were very happy kids :).

A fun time with Evonne over the weekend starting off with cards for V-Day. It was rather a short session but we enjoyed every minute of it. We were making Easel Cards.

We went to Hypermarket in Boulevard for some grocery shopping. And Xavier loves the new trolley. We love it too because it's light (it's made of pvc material), and smaller.

I made a scrapbook with a picture of Alvin and Giles (his friend) following one of Creative Scrappers' sketches.

So that's Week 4. I will come back again tomorrow with Week 5. And oo...with some scrapbooks pictures too.

Creative Scrappers Challenge # 189

I haven't scrapbook for quite some time now but recently the urge has been pressing. Simply because I miss it a lot. So I thought it would be nice if I could push my lazy bums to follow at least one scrapbook challenge online, just to get the engine running.

After a lot of browsing, I found Creative Scrappers and fell in love with what they're doing and their awesome sketches. I have a picture of the hubs and his friend, Giles, that has been put up on the fridge for quite a while. It was given by an Aunt and we didn't know where to put it so that's how it ended there. So now we have a testimony for "there's a reason for everything". Hehe! And here it is...I used the CS Challenge No. 189.

Materials used here are: Card Stock - Mustard (K&Co), Stripey Glitters (Unknown), White Thickers (American Crafts), Scrapbook Kit - Spring Theme (Colorbok).

This works very well for me because as a working mother and having very little time, I can just hop in to their blog and choose which sketch to use, without having to crack my skull for ideas. Now I already have in mind on which picture to scrapbook following their tons of awesome sketches. Yippie!

It's the weekend again. Yeay! I can't wait for tomorrow for my crafting session with Evonne. We're going to kick off for Valentine's specials. Yup...you heard it right! V-Day is coming soon and we have a few things in mind for the Store, so it's pretty exciting.

And ooh...I have a new love...for SMASH-ing! No...it's not what you'd think off. It's actually a kind of a new trend in the world of scrapbooking. I will share a little about it hopefully in my next post. In the mean time, I just can't wait to get my hands on it. Hehe! *wink*

But today I'm going to share with you my 2 cards created for Clean and Simple challenges (FTL 173 & FTL 174). You will find them for sale in the Store too :). Ingredients for the 2 cards are: Card Stocks, Felt, Corrugated Papers, Wrapping Papers, Flower Lace Ribbons, Inkadinkadoo Clear Stamps, Pink Blinkies, and Patterned Paper from Colorbok.

Project 365 - Week 3

Week 3 involves anticipation for the Chinese New Year celebration that were coming just around the corner. I don't celebrate the occassion but I LOVE the long holiday. This one was much needed because I wasn't feeling so well the past few days. We had a steam boat family dinner at Alvin's parents' house on the eve of CNY. Thereafter, we all (except for Alvin's dad, Malachi and Martin) gathered at our house with coffee and snacks while waiting for the clock to strike midnight when all the Chinese neighbors were going to fire lots of firecrackers and fireworks. When it happened, Xavier was petrified by the sounds.

A few of my colleagues and I went out for a crab-feasting dinner a couple evenings before the weekend. Alvin came home from his offshore trip too on the same evening so it was a double doze of happiness for me. *wide grin*

Xavier developed a loving for Barney character. Sheryl shared some of her old videos with him one evening and he was hooked line and sinker with the purple dinasour. I'm glad it's not the Teletubbies...they look creepy to me. On a different occassion, he also had his first hands on experience with the real drum at church after one of Alvin's cousin's wedding ceremony.

One of my personal new year reso this year is to join Clean & Simple's Fall To Layout Challenges. I've been wanting to do so last year but time wasn't kind enough to me then. This time I am going to make it work. *wink*

Since the chinese are celebrating their Dragon Year festival in a couple days time, I thought I'd make a card using this theme. This card is also available for sale in our Online Store. I used some card stocks, mesh paper, an old angpau (money) packet, and some wrapping papers :).

In the meantime, here's also posting my Project 365 - Week 2.

I have to keep apologizing for the glaring effect of the photos. I still couldn't find time to take photos of them during the weekend (I thought Sunday would be a good time. Obviously NOT!) so yes, I had to do it during the week days...at night. Urgh! But I must admit that Monday is the best time for me to print and take photos of them, right after the week ended. I'm still trying to get the hang of this...so please bear with me a while.

I love the decorating part. Even though for just decorating that 4" X 4" slot and filling up the other with my journal (I try to keep it that way to stay clean and simple), I {heart} every bit of it. Well, I don't have a sewing machine (yet!) so that will keep me from itching to do more to the decor. Hehe...

A few things happened during this week. We had a panic moment when Xavier had a cut on his left thumb. His grandma wanted to clip his thumb nails when out of a sudden he struggled, which ended with his grandma cutting a bit of his skin. I crinched just remembering about it. But he's okay now and that's most important. Thank God.

Apart from that, I made a mini book for a friend of mine. I hope she won't see this post yet. Not until I have sent the book to her. It's supposed to be a surprise. Eeeeek! And I have also managed to make a mini scrapbook for all the Instax photos taken with my sister's Instax when they were here last Christmas. I gotta get me one of those Instax camera soon.

I have not got the guts to stick embellishments to any of the photos just yet but I do admire those who does and love their little added creations. I am still new in this anyway so I guess it will take time getting use to. And I will definitely try adding new stuff/decors to the photos one day soon. Mean time, I love them as they are so far.

Happy New Year to you and you..and you. 2011 wooshed away just like that, huh? Sometimes it's kinda scary, don't you think? However, I was a little relieved that 2011 is gone. It was a very...very challenging year to me. And I wish I can erase some of them from my memories but of course..that's not possible.

But it wasn't all that bad. I have had some very nice memories of 2011 as well. They're memories that kept me strong and motivated. And they also reminds me that it always takes some rain to get a nice pretty rainbow by the end of the day.

Starting off with 2012, I plan to continue on with my Project 365. I know I left off without publishing a few weeks in my Project 365 for 2011 & My December Daily. I will try to publish them for you sometime soon.

So here's my Project 365 - Week One:

Sorry for the quality of the images...there's a lot of glaring obviously because I took them at night under the bright light. I hope I will manage to take better photos with better lighting in the future.

December Daily 2011 (Day 1 - 4)

Yes, I have gone digital with my first ever December Daily project. I needed it to be fast and easy for me to make considering I wouldn't have much time to do it hands on, because in my case for now (plus other commitments) hands on = delay.

But I am very happy with it because not only is it fun, but it gave me peace too. There's always something soothing or peaceful about making digital scrapbook for me. When Mom passed away last April, digital scrapbook was one of the things that gave me peace and helped to take away some of the pain. Now I'm in an almost similar situation, and here I am, finding my peace with digital scrapbooking. I'm glad this happen.

I Know It's Impossible...

...but I wish I could erase the date April 10th, 2011 from my life's journey so I didn't have to go through it, and that nothing on that day had happened to me. Yes I know it's impossible but please...just let me wish.

It's looking a lot like Xmas around and I'm not looking forward to it. I got myself busy preparing for the cards to go out, put them up on sale at the Xmas Baazar, but I just couldn't feel the excitment. It's just empty inside. Oo please..please...just let me wish.

This is going to be a very painful Xmas for me. I praise God that He's going to send me my 2 angels over to cheer me up. It's the only thing that I look forward to.

I hope I will be okay. So please...please just let me wish.

Consisting of Angela's (my Sister In-Law) birthday dinner, remembering November 11th, 2011, and Evonne moving to her new house. I even kept the Nescafe drinks that me and my colleagues tried. They were given by his friend from NZ. And also a pack of Twiggies I had...this is good for watching the food that I eat...especially junk food. Hehe.

365: Project Life - Week 45

Here's my Week 45:

I'm still using the printed transparent paper. It's my last one...boohooo! The numbers are from American Crafts...if my memory serves me right. Hehe...

I inserted in a small plastic bag, a wedding invitation from Alexandera, one of my colleagues who got married on Nov 3rd.

Some few photos from the wedding. We were unable to take good photos because the camera unfortunately didn't work very well that night *sigh*. A photo of Rose, my colleague aka good friend, facing our lunch - rojak. And a photo of Xavier playing with the house phone at Alvin's parents' house - this is the norm that you'd see on a Friday evening before we go back to our house in Senadin.

We had lunch at the newly opened Pizza hut in Permy Jaya. They have a nice cozy place. But most of all, Evonne and Xavier had a lot of fun in each other's company.

Our Saturday routine - Long breakfast, cleaning up around the house, and long tv hours for Xavier :)

I made a birthday card for Angela, my sister in law, on Sunday for her birthday on Monday, Nov 7th. I'm still so much into making those Gatefold Cards so I made one for her. She invited us for dinner at Cafe Miri that night. *happy smile*

In Focus

A little frustration crept inside of me this morning. Things undone, things needed to be done, with time given as much as none. Urgh! This sucks big time! Not good at all!

And then I found this beautiful words taken from the Bible. It hit me really hard on the forehead that I had to put it up somewhere as a big reminder from the Big Guy. So I got a photo of my feet I took on the floor of a mall in town and match it up with the scripture. Picture perfect!

I have a constant reminder now, that no matter how fast or slow I do my work, the most important thing for me is being in focus.

Photo Challenge

Liz at Dear Lizzy is having a Photo Challenge to remember today's date, and I just had to join the fun. I dragged my two lovely colleagues aka girlfriends without telling them of my intentions for dragging them out for a photo session.

Since the office doesn't have a nice spot or corner for photo taking, we opted for the staircase!! Haha! And these two just giggled along with me having fun taking self timer shots, still not knowing what I was up to. Sorry girls but I did it purely to surprise you both with this blog. Surpriiissseeee! Hehehe!

Oo by the way, it's my 6th years Wedding Anniversary with Alvin. Happy Anniversary, My Love! I love our crazy life before, loving the crazy life that we have now, and looking forward to lots and lots more crazy life ahead with you. Because we just have to be crazy enough to stay sane! Muah!

365: Project Life

I was gleaming with happiness when I finally got this project starting. O my gosh! It was a whole lot of fun! (still gleaming..hehe).

So my Saturday night and Sunday afternoon was filled up with this project. I got a white file (3 rings) or binder for the album, which I plan to decorate later. And then I took out 2 transparent papers with motif prints which I bought long time ago in KL and didn't know what to do with them. They became 2 of my page dividers. Kept some receipts from transactions during the week and tucked them nicely inside a small transparent plastic bag. Hubs told me the receipts print out might fade through time, which made sense, so I would have to make copies of them from now on and keep the copies instead.

I look forward to fill up the album with lots of pictures and memories of my daily/weekly life. I know the timing to start this project is a little off knowing that the year is ending very soon. But then again I thought, better late than never. So here I am, having a blast documenting my life; 'The Adventure of Creating My Own Rainbow' *wink*

In short, 365: Project Life is about documenting your daily life on weekly basis. But if you can do it daily, then the better :). It's all up to individual preferences and time management. Basically, it's just about taking 1 or 2 pictures of your daily routines, events and what other things that makes your day. If there's no picture for the day, then it can be other things. Example: a different type of coffee you tried today so you'd want to keep the packet, groceries list or receipts, drawings or paintings that your child(ren) made, places you go, ...just about anything you want to document as rememberance. Need more examples or images to convince you? Go to Ali Edwards (the initiator of this project) blog and check out her amazing work.

Gatefold

My colleague Alexandra is getting married tomorrow, and I was asked to come up with a Congratulations card for her by my other colleagues so we could all share and sign the card. And I got the idea of creating a card called Gatefold Card, inspired by one lady Demonstrator for Stampin' Up. I forgot her name and her blogsite link. I closed the link tab without remembering to add it in my Favourites. Bummer. But thank goodness I remembered to print out some parts of the tutorial for the Gatefold Card. Phew!

Anyways, I managed to get it done quite fast a couple of nights ago and I am satisfied with the outcome of my first try (hooray for me!!). It was pretty easy actually, and lot of fun to do. I am definitely going to make some of these Gatefold Cards again soon.

On to the next exciting-and-fun-thing-to-do, I'm thinking of giving it a try on some of Ali Edwards fun-tastic projects. I think I would like to start of with the 365 Project Life first and then with December Daily. Maannn...this lady Ali is so inspirational! I have been meaning to do this for quite a long time actually. I've been peering and reading (and envying) and browsing her blog about these projects of hers but that was all I was afforded to do then. I'm a little relaxed now and have more time to continue focusing on my scrapbook activities. Yeaayyy..:D So I'm starting to gather my materials and the necessary before starting off "to the moon". Hehehe...

Putting my excitement to the side for just a bit, here's some shots of the Gatefold Card I made for my colleague, Alexandra.

I have not done this in so many years. The last time was when I moved back to Kuching from KL in 2003. I wanted to make my comeback exciting so I decided to revamp my bedroom. So it's very exciting to be able to do this again.

Here's the thing. My present craft room has never really materialize ever since we moved in to this house for reasons that's not necessary to be shared here. So I thought re-decorating it could be a good thing to do. Plus I need to make it more comfortable as a guest room as well, considering we only have 3 rooms in the house. The other one has been converted into a "Vader Room" (eyes rolling) by the husband. Boooooooo...!

Anyway, so for a starter, I went around and found a small rack that I thought would go perfect with my white working table. Plus, it's very cute. Hehe! The only thing is it needs a little painting work and that was what I really needed. A diy to boost the creativity momentum. *wink*

A few reminders here before getting started with a painting job. Get ready:

1) some old newspapers

2) a pair of hand gloves (if you don't want to smear your fingers and hands and have hell at scrapping them off later on)

3) a small bottle of thinner (just in case you forget to get your hand gloves and had to scrap the paint off later, this helps speed up the process. Also, it helps to clean the paint brush later.)

4) a good quality paint brush. For me, I used a small sized one because the rack is small.

5) a pair of face mask (some paint produces very strong smell and that's not good for the health)

6) a good quality paint colour of your choice. I chose white ;)

So here's a few shots of my diy rack done halfway.

Unfold the side flaps to pull out the one tier rack

Insert in the wooden pole on to the holes bored on the side flaps...and voila! A cute wall rack ;p

Below are shots of my first layer of paint (one side first) on all parts. Tips: you can paint the rack without un-assembling the parts but you will have some parts hidden and unpainted so that won't look good by the end of the day. I like to un-assembly the whole thing, do the painting job, re-assembly, and get the best work done ;p.

Now I can't wait to do the 2nd layer (or 3rd..your preference), reassembly after it's all completely dry, and install it on the wall of my working table. Of course, the installing part will be with the help of DH...hehehe.

Still not fully recovered from my flu and coughing but I have already planned for a few things for the weekend starting from tonight. Ngeeheheee...

1) Compiling ideas for some crafting sessions - tonight

2) DIY project (initial stage) starts - tomorrow morning

3) Lunch date with hubby and friend :)

4) Crafting session - tomorrow afternoon

5) Crafting session - tomorrow night continues

6) Scrapbooking/Smashing session - Sunday afternoon

7) Movie time! - Sunday night

Now...the only problem is...whether I can really make them happen! LOL!

I have been yearning to blog ever since my last one but there's always a glitch that held it back. I had problems on choosing which happenings to blog. Some are plain crazy, some filled with too much anger and rage, some are too personal, and some are just so not blog-worthy.

But yesterday evening as Alvin and I got back to his parents' place after work to pick up Mr. X, we found him and Sheryl at the front yard playing football. I quickly got my phone's camera on and took some shots. I can't express how happy I was seeing him running to get the ball, and kicked it with his cute tiny feet.

My son is leaving toddler-hood very soon! I am happy and sad at the same time. I think it's the same for every mothers to feel like wise. You want your child(ren) to grow but at the same time, you don't want them to. I have began to miss Mr. X when he was a lot smaller, from birth to about 6-7 months. He was a lot chubbier then. But I know that by next year, I would be missing a certain phase about him in the past...so it's kind of a never ending thing. This part saddens me.

But the happy part is watching him grow up...and at the same time, I could grow up with him. Experiencing, witnessing, and learning so much from him brought me to another level of perspective in life. And this would bring me back to think of how great My God, My Father is. Of how much he loves us and has thought of every little thing for us .

So I am going to embrace all the moments, the experience, and the learning...and take one day at a time to appreciate, to enjoy, and to love...the present.

An Orange Tiger!

We had one running around Taman Selera some time ago. Driving his garbage truck through sandy grounds with his little tiger hands and sneaking up at other people picnicking on a Satuday morning. Doesn't really sound like a real tiger, does he? But he's orange alright!

Owh, I haven't mention that this tiger wears sun shades too! He is indeed a 'cool-eriffic' tiger!

p/s Please ignore the old tattooed gigantic black tiger behind Papa tiger. We don't know him.........*lame innocent look*.

Quiet Sunday

I love today. A nice Sunday where the afternoon was quiet. The sun stole a sneak through the windows and I could hear the palm leaves swaying and dancing to the rythme of the wind. It's hot today but it was still bearable. We've experienced hotter days than this.

I chose to laze around and didn't do much. Just giving myself some time to chill out before I go back to crafting again. It was a really crazy and challenging week last week. Evonne and I had 2 cards orders that were really challenging our ability to be creative. But when we finished them, it was a really rewarding feeling and we love the results. Check out our LLC blog so you can follow the details on what I'm talking about. Next there will be 2 more major projects coming up and all preps will happen tomorrow. I hope and by God's grace, we will be able to nail this one too.

Also, there is this one other thing that Evonne and I have to attend to and be done with once and for all because it has been dragging us down for far too long. So this is it. This is going to be the end or the beginning of something..something..something. Good or bad, it all will depend on what is going to happen on that day.

In the mean time, I hope you've enjoyed your Sunday too.

Have you ever been bogged down by a major decision that you need to make that is reeaaally draining and almost drowning you? Well...this is my first. I have never had any problems deciding something for myself all these while...even the major ones. It only took me like 2 days to decide on moving to KL to work last time. I was only 21 years old at the time so that was considered a very major decision. But this one has been nesting in my head for quite some time now...almost a year probably and I have grown so tired.

I prayed hard about it...talked to God so many times about it and I know that the answers will come in His time. But I am just tired of thinking about it. The thing is, I asked Him "if it's not for me now...then why do I feel that You are pressing me to do it now?". No answer.

Then yesterday, after so long...He talked to me through this:

Delight yourself in the LORD

and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the LORD;

trust in Him and He will do this:

He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,

the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.

Psalm 37:4-6

God works in mysterious ways. He has given me a few hints (through His words and scriptures from the Bible) actually along my journey in finding the answer to this decision. They're not answers but they were guidance. Although, after having to wait for so long, a straightforward answer like "..My answer for you is Yes. So first off, go and do this and this and this. Here's a complete guide for you :).." would be much preferred. Of course...that's not the way He works.

So I am still here...waiting for His answer and in the meantime receiving all the wisdom that He's blessed me with as my lead and my guide.

And I surrender all...

There are times when solitude is bliss. When being alone is the most peaceful place you can be. When the husband caught you in a deep thought; that's when you are actually somewhere far far away...seating on a bench overlooking the lake watching the sun set.

On this bench, problems doesn't exist, sorrows and sadness is so unknown. No questions "why" and no doubts. There's only peace and quiet, and feeling of belonging. Just pure bliss. On this bench, I'd find my escape from the world. On this bench, I can have my sanity. On this bench, I can find my Creator sitting next to me enjoying the sunset together. On this bench, far far away...

Some things just couldn't be avoided...

Actually I can but I chose not to. Like this Nips chocolate coated peanut. Or M & M. Ah...yummy yum yum. I would have them a packet a week now. I used to have more before but decided 2 packets would instantly get me diabetic so I stick myself to one.

But there's one thing I cannot avoid. I cannot avoid Mr. X from growing up too fast! Huhu! This little fellow has challenged me in so many ways that I never thought I could ever handle. But he gave me lots of laughter, smiles, and infinite love too. 18 months ago, his presence was unfamiliar to me. But now, I just couldn't live without him. My darling little X man...Mommy loves you infinitely.
